The public health workforce is experiencing significant changes as the health systems change in various ways. This conference will introduce current leadership efforts to address the changing environment as well as activities designed to enhance maternal and child health programs.
At the conclusion of the conference, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate greater awareness of the role of leaders/management in the growth and development of future maternal and child health leaders.
- Identify concepts and strategies implemented for disease prevention and health promotion of women, infants and children including children with special health care needs.
- Develop a more conscious and consistent approach to "emerging issues" related to maternal and child health (public health risks) in times of change.
- Summarize the history, structure and lessons learned from past leaders in the development of healthier communities.
- Define and articulate leadership strategies for combining media and community approaches to influence public policy as well as build support for community-based public health programs.
- Recognize the impact of leadership development in public health programs and professional practices.
- Stimulate community-based health initiatives through public/private partnerships.
