Use of Electronically Integrated Databases for Surveillance and Follow-Up of Children with Special Health care Needs

Marie Mann:  We have with us this afternoon Cathy Gunderson who has over 30 years’ experience working in the information technology profession.  She currently manages the CDC EDEP Project, which is housed in the Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs Section at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.  Bill Letson is a pediatrician with sub-specialty training in infectious disease and public health epidemiology.  Prior to his current position as the Pediatric Consultant and MCH Epidemiologist for the State of Colorado, he was the MCH Director and Chief Medical Officer for the State of Wyoming.  And we have Kathy Walters--Waters, sorry--in her position as the Director of the Children and Youth with Special Healthcare Needs Section of the Prevention Services Division at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.  Kathy oversees the Children with Special Healthcare Needs Program, the Genetics Program, the Newborn Hearing Screening Program and the Medical Home Initiative.  Kathy has a masters degree in audiology and has received training in public administration and leadership, so we’ll pass it on to Kathy.
